Cyree Jarelle Johnson

Cyrée Jarelle Johnson (he/they) is the author of SLINGSHOT (Nightboat Books, 2019), winner of the Lambda Literary Award for Gay Poetry. He earned a BA from Hampshire College, and MS in Library and Information Science from Drexel University, and an MFA from Columbia University. Johnson's writing has appeared widely, including at Prompt Press, Apogee, Boston Review, Wussy, The Root, Transfaith/Huffington Post, ElixHer Magazine, and Black Girl Dangerous. In 2020, Johnson received a Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowship from the Poetry Foundation.

Johnson lives in Brooklyn, where he serves as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Librarian and assistant professor at the Pratt Institute Libraries, and as poetry editor for the Deaf Poets Society.
